Our Herd Bulls V3C Roseberry Smokehaus TLBAA No. BM82021 2011 TLBAA Horn Showcase Videos of Smokehaus Photo Date: 10/2011(middle) 10/16/2011 (Bottom) Video Date: 5/2011 Date Calved: 4/15/2009 Sire: Strawberry Texas Dam: O-Mini Rosemary Height: 40 3/4" on 3/14/2011 (Horn Showcase) Total Horn: 50 1/4" on 3/14/2011 (Horn Showcase) Horn : Height = 1.233 Smokehaus thinks that he is BIG bull. He struts around bellowing at all the girls, pawing the dirt and making a big fuss. Even though he tries his best to look like the toughest bull in the county, he is "dog tame." Smokey demands to be scratched and brushed by every person who enters the ranch. In fact, he is so gentle we can measure him without having to run him through the chute. Based on his small physical size, horn shape, horn growth, conformation and gentle disposition, we feel that he will likely be one of the top Miniature Texas Longhorn bulls in the World! Bogle Farms Smokin' Ace TLBAA No. BM83582 Photo Date: 10/2011 Date Calved: 7/16/2010 Sire: Micro Chip Dam: Daisy Mae Height: 40" on 10/15/2011 TTT: 32" on 10/15/2011 Horn: Height = 0.80 Smokin' Ace was purchased from Bogle Farms in Sorrento Florida. He arrived at the V3C on 4/15/2011 after a very long journey. His first day on the ranch he was introduced to the halter and has been progressing quite nicely (far better than we would expect after a long week of stress). He will be used to breed the offspring produced by the King of the V3C - Smokehaus. Ace, like Gumdrop, also has a love for shoes and his favorite flavor is Crocs - not the cheap knockoffs - he can tell the difference... Heifers V3C Smokin' Lady Liberty (AKA Libby) TLBAA No. CM336426 Photo Date: 10/2011 Date Calved: 5/30/2011 Sire: V3C Roseberry Smokehaus Dam: IM Miss Gumdrop Height: not yet measured TTT: not yet measured Horn : Height = not yet determined Libby is an absolutely gorgeous little heifer calf that we are retaining and will eventually be used as one of our foundation cows. Her conformation, color and disposition are exceptional. She will likely be our first miniature show heifer RS Lil Peanut (AKA Peanut) TLBAA No. C274875 Photo Date: 10/2011 Date Calved: 6/22/2010 Sire: KO Goast Hunter Dam: KO Whispering Willow Height: not yet measured TTT: not yet measured Horn : Height = not yet determined Bred By Smokin' Ace on 10/4/2011 Potential Calving Date: 7/11/2012 Peanut is one of our most treasured acquisitions. Although she is still very young, we believe that she is close to being the "complete package" - size, conformation, disposition, color and horn. We will be reclassifying her as a miniature sometime in the very near future. Peanut was purchased from Beth and Ken Smith of the Rockin S Ranch in Clyde, TX. These folks are some of the nicest people we have met since getting into the Longhorn business - not to mention Beth makes one of the best peach cobblers we have ever had!! Annabelle TLBAA No. CI274958* Photo Date: 10/2011 Date Calved: 4/12/2010 Sire: YO Coach's Game Dam: RDH High Enough Height: 46 1/2" on 10/30/2011 TTT: 42" on 10/30/2011 Horn : Height = 0.90 Bred by Smokin' Ace: 10/6/2011 Potential Calving Date: 7/13/2012 Annabelle is our largest heifer but we are hoping that we will bring her size down by breeding her to Smokin' Ace and then her calves to Smokehaus. This gorgeous heifer is slowly starting to tame down and we have been very please with her horn development. Annabelle was purchased from Rick Hager with RDH Longhorns Little Gem 49/9 TLBAA No. C267034 STRAIGHT BUTLER Photo Date: 10/2011 Date Calved: 11/12/2009 Sire: Littleace Jackrabbitslim Dam: Little Ace Gemstone Height: 43 1/2" on 3/14/2011 TTT: 29" on 3/14/2011 Horn : Height = 0.66 Bred by Smokehaus: 6/16/2011 Potential Calving Date: 3/23/2012 Little Gem is from Bolen Longhorns. She is a product of Kaso Ketty's breeding program (Ace Cattle Company) in Folsom. LA. She is one of our straight Butler longhorns. Gem is one of our sweetest longhorns that will literally chase people around to get a good scratching. 585 Back 40 TLBAA No. C271152
Photo Date: 1/22/2012 Date Calved: 10/8/2009 Sire: 585 Overwhelming Toro Dam: Meadowwood's Tayna Height: Under 43" but not officially measured yet TTT: Not yet measured but already has the WOW factor Exposure Information: Not exposed but will be exposed to Bogle Farms Smokin' Ace Potential Calving Date: NA 585 Back 40 (AKA Little 40) was purchased at the 2012 TLBAA Premier Heifer Sale from Ron and Kevin Asbill of the well known 585 Ranch. Her sire is a multiple Horn Showcase Campion and is absolutely awesome with over 100 inches of total horn!! Little 40 is a tiny heifer that is just slightly taller than our smallest mini bull. We are extremely excited to have her in our breeding program and are very anxious to see what she will produce with our junior herd sire Bogle Farms Smokin' Ace. She is an extremely calm heifer that is already eating out of our hands a mere week after she was hauled down to our ranch from Fort Worth by our good friend Felix Serna of the Legendary El Coyote Ranch. We are hopeful that in the very near future we will have her tamed down to the point where we can brush her. Our only concern is that she may put on so much horn that the poor little girl will topple over... RS Shota TLBAA No. C274874 Photo Date: 10/2011 Date Calved: 6/10/2009 Sire: KO Southern Spy Dam: KO Whispering Willow Height: 47" on 10/15/2011 TTT: 41" on 10/15/2011 Horn : Height = 0.87 Exposed to KO Goast Hunter from 7/1/2011 - 9/22/2011 Shota is a gorgeous little heifer that we feel will add some great genetics into our breeding program. She is a half sister to Peanut and is also very small for coming out of "standard-sized" genetics. She is also very close to being the "complete package" - size, conformation, color, disposition and horn. Shota was purchased from Beth and Ken Smith of the Rockin S Ranch in Clyde, TX. These folks are some of the nicest people we have met since getting into the Longhorn business - not to mention Beth makes one of the best peach cobblers we have ever had!! IM Miss Sandy Kay TLBAA No. CM261754 Photo Date: 10/2011 Date Calved: 4/15/2009 Sire: Micro Casper (Indian Mountain Ranch) Dam: Wanda May (Indian Mountain Ranch) Height: 43 3/4" on 3/5/2011 TTT: 25 1/2" on 3/5/2011 Horn : Height = 0.58 Bred by Smokehaus: 7/19/2011 Potential Calving Date: 4/25/2012 Sandy Kay is perhaps our favorite heifer due to her personality. She was the first of our heifers to allow us to pet, scratch and brush them. She is so friendly that when we scratch her when she is lying down, she will kick a leg up in the air so we can scratch the inside of her leg and rub her hooves. The interesting thing is that she is the most timid around the other cows - always yielding to them at the feed trough. Her colors are magnificent and her calves with Smokehaus will be something special.
Cows Dulce Non-registered Longhorn-Dexter Cross
Photo Date: 10/2011 Date Calved: 2/26/2003 Sire: Unknown Dam: Unknown Height: not yet measured TTT: not yet measured Horn : Height = not yet determined Bred By Smokehaus on 12/19/2011 Potential Calving Date: 9/25/2012 Dulce is our oldest cow. Her color and disposition make her a wonderful new addition to our herd. She is currently in an intensive weight management program that we have named "Jenny Moo." She was registered as a Texas Longhorn with the TLBAA but due to some characteristics that indicate that she may have some Dexter in her, we made the decision to remove her from the registry. Her calves will be sold as unregistered Miniature Texas Longhorn crosses that will make wonderful pasture pets! Mini Spots X 18 (AKA Confetti) TLBAA No. CM221986 2011 TLBAA Horn Showcase Photo Date: 10/7//2010 (Top) 10/2011 (Bottom) Date Calved: 6/6/2003 Sire: Colonel Eddie Dam: MACEOXLH159ACEBRENDEL MG Height: 38 7/16" on 10/14/2011 (Horn Showcase) Total Horn: 51 5/8" on 10/14/2011 (Horn Showcase) Horn : Height = 1.343 Exposed to Smokin' Ace from 4/1/2011 - 8/1/2011 Exposed to Smokehaus from 8/1/2011 - Present Confetti is our second oldest cow. Her colors and horns make her one of our most valuable acquisitions. She is taking cubes out of our hand but still will not allow us to pet, scratch or brush her. She has been exposed to Smokehaus and we are anxiously awaiting her calf.
Zebette Non-registered Zebu Longhorn Cross Photo Date: 10/2011 Date Calved: 1/2/2004 Sire: Unknown Dam: Unknown Height: not yet measured TTT: not yet measured Horn : Height = not yet determined Bred by Smokehaus on 9/19/2011 Potential Calving Date: 6/26/2012 Zebette was registered as a Texas Longhorn through the TLBAA and was removed from the registry as soon as we acquired her. Apparently, the people that owned her dam also owned miniature Zebu cattle that were kept in a pasture next to their Texas Longhorns. When her pregnant dam calved out, the new owner registered Zebette according to the exposure information provided by the previous owner and sold her when she was around 5 months old (too young to tell that she was not a pure Texas Longhorn). This demonstrates the danger in registering calves very young when there is a potential of accidental cross-breeding. When there is a potential of cross-breeding, calves should be registered at an older age after they have been evaluated for breed purity. She is absolutely tinyand is a sweet little cow that is still a bit more timid that our other cattle. Zebette has also been entered into the "Jenny Moo" weight loss program... We are hoping that she and Smokehaus will make some really cute calves that we will sell as unregistered pasture pets.
Dubose's Becky Ann (AKA Becky) TLBAA No. C224184 STRAIGHT BUTLER Photo Date: 10/2011 Date Calved: 1/19/2004 Sire: Dalgood's Dream R3 Dam: Bar R Becky Height: 48" (approximated) TTT: not measured Bred by Smokehaus on 9/15/2011 Potential Calving Date: 6/22/2012 The original Bevo was Becky's great grandsire. She is a gorgeous straight Butler cow. She is one of the biggest girls at the Vertically Challenged Cattle Company. However, she has the disposition, horn, color and conformation that we would like to see down-sized in the miniatures. Hopefully, she will produce some heifer calves with Smokehaus that can then be bred to Smokin' Ace for additional down-sizing. Becky was purchased from David Robinson in Medina, TX. The Robinson family was so enjoyable that we did not want to leave their ranch.
Mini Socks (AKA Big Momma Cass) TLBAA No. CM223323 Photo Date: 7/31/2010 (Top & Center) 10/2011 (Right) Date Calved: 5/5/2004 Sire: Micro Cleatus Dam: MACEOX165W Height: 41 1/4" on 3/5/2011 TTT: 37 1/8" on 3/5/2011 Horn : Height = 0.9 Calving: 12/17/2011 with V3C Smokin' Daybreak Big Momma Cass is the lead cow on the Vertically Challenged Cattle Company. She is one of our friendliest cows who absolutely adores getting all of the attention. Every evening she looks forward to getting groomed and handed cubes. She gave birth to a healthy bull calf on 8/18/2010 named Sancho Panza. On 12/17/2011 she gave birth to an absolutely gorgeous little heifer calf that we have named V3C Smokin' Daybreak (AKA Daisy). Daisy will be retained for our breeding program and is not for sale.
KO Whispering Willow TLBAA No. C232543 Photo Date: 10/2011 Date Calved: 7/12/2005 Sire: Dayton J Chex Dam: BL Samie Sue Height: 48" (approximated) TTT: not measured Exposed to KO Goast Hunter from 7/1/2011 - 9/22/2011 Willow is one of those cows that all Miniature breeders set out to find and rarely are successful. She has "the magic gene" that makes her produce extremely small offspring regardless of the bull that she is bred to. Both Peanut and Shota are her daughters. The former owner of Willow even bred her to their largest Angus bull in an attempt to produce commercial calves with her but no such luck - she produced the smallest Angus cross calf they had ever seen!! Although she is one of the biggest girls at the Vertically Challenged Cattle Company, we are confident that with her "magic gene" she will produce just what we are looking for in terms of Miniature Texas Longhorns that are the "complete package" - size, conformation, color, disposition and horn. Willow was purchased from Beth and Ken Smith of the Rockin S Ranch in Clyde, TX. These folks are some of the nicest people we have met since getting into the Longhorn business - not to mention Beth makes one of the best peach cobblers we have ever had!! She is a straight Butler cow that is absolutely awesome in every way. Although little Flirt is one inch taller than the maximum height for a Miniature Texas Longhorn, she will certainly produce the types of calves that we want to be known for here at the Vertically Challenged Cattle Company!! Sadly, she tipped her right horn and broke off several inches but regardless we think she is gorgeous. Flirt was purchased from Vida Nueva Ranch outside of Somerville, TX. The Faske family is a true inspiration and if you are ever in the area, please look them up and pay them a visit. One hour on their ranch with their incredible family will change your life forever!!

She has the total package: small physical body size, color, conformation, disposition and horn. This little girl is exactly what Miniature Texas Longhorn breeders have been trying to create. She is absolutely the most gorgeous cow you will ever see. Gummy does have a strange shoe fetish, so if you don't want your shoes to be licked - stay away from this little girl when you come to visit. Gummy calved on Memorial Day 2011 (5/30/2011). She gave birth to V3C Smokin' Lady Liberty (Libby for short) a gorgeous Miniature Texas Longhorn Heifer. Libby is going to be retained for our breeding program. Freckles is an absolutely beautiful cow. Her brown ears and black spots make her very unique. She loves to be petted, scratched and brushed. Freckles gave birth to a gorgeous little bull calf named V3C Smokin' Tabasco (AKA Toby) on June 17, 2011.

We have bottle raised this calf since he was two weeks old. Kosmos is so people oriented that he will even walk up the stairs to the house and would occasionally sleep inside when the mosquitoes got to bad when he was younger. Sadly, he still wants to come in the house and occasionally when we come home from work we find him sleeping on the front deck to the house; this is a problem because he is afraid to walk back down the steps. Eventually, we plan to saddle train Kazi so that children can ride him. V3C Champ's Lighthaus (AKA Haus) TLBAA No. SI62658 Photo Date: 10/2011 Date Calved: 5/5/2010 Sire: TCC Champion (Junction Hill Cattle Company) Dam: Special (Junction Hill Cattle Company) Height: 55" on 10/15/2011 TTT: 35" on 10/15/2011 Horn: Height = 0.64 Lighthaus (AKA Haus) was purchased when he was a little over two months old. We bottle raised him and plan to train him to be a riding steer. Haus is a large bodied standard-sized Texas Longhorn and will be used as a vertical scale out in the pasture. When people come to see the minis, they will be able to truly appreciate how small these animals are when compared to a full-sized steer. His name should be quite fitting once he matures because we plan to look for the Lighthaus out in the pasture when we are trying to locate our herd of minis.
